Even with great care, jewellery can become damaged and in need of repair. Belfiore jewellery offer a full repair and maintenance service for our customers. If the damage is deemed to be a manufacturing fault we will repair the jewellery free of charge, otherwise a charge may apply.
Any jewellery requiring repair will be assessed by Belfiore jewellery’s expert jewellers.
To help, below we have specified the type of damage that we consider to be a manufacturing fault vs general wear and tear.
- Manufacturing Faults
Examples of damage deemed to be a manufacturing fault
- Loose stones as a result of the jewellery relaxing, often identified within the first few months after crafting has been completed.
- Breakage due to weak solder
- Cracking along the resize line
- Broken springs on clasps
- Popped out necklace chain joint
- Claws that are not flat on the stone (e.g. leading to catching on clothing)
- General Wear & Tear
Examples of damage deemed to be general wear and tea
- A ring that has been bent out of shape (distorted rings)
- Accidental damage caused to jewellery (e.g. being run over by car)
- Broken links in a necklace chain
- Loosening of a clasp over time
- Claws that require re-tipping
- Chipped, cracked or broken gemstone
- Damage to the jewellery caused by yourself or another party
- Loss or theft of your jewellery
- Scratches, dents or marks to any metal surface
- Stones that require repolishing/re-faceting (e.g. sapphires)
- The wearing of rhodium plating
- Wear on base of the shanks (e.g. dents on jewellery from coming into contact with other objects)
- Wearing down of the underside of the claws (e.g. baskets wearing down from diamonds)
